Winter vintage look

Winter time!

It's first winter day! Congrats, everybody!
Tomorrow I'll start series of blog entries about winter clothes and accessories. When it gets really cold outside, we give more attention to warmness rather than beauty. Especially here, in Ukraine, where previous February temperature was about -20. Brrr! It was a challenge for us to stay alive and look good :)
I asked myself if its possible to adhere dress up vintage style in winter time. And here is the answer: yes!
In some cases its more complicated, but still it's possible.

Today we had lovely Saturday night party. Four bands played surf, country and rockabilly! Wise Guys, who played the last, just recorded their new album "Rock this flour". I enjoyed that music show and wild dances. Now I'm happy, tired and ready to go to sleep :)

Few weeks ago I got an offer to take part in filming. I've never tried that!  Famous Ukrainian director Les' Sanin makes his new movie about city Kharkiv in late 20's - early 30's. I was invited for a role of dancing actress, as well as few more ladies from our swing dance community. It took two days and countless amount of takes to film about 30 different scenes of evening party in restaurant. To tell the truth, I never knew it is so hard to get together 80 people properly dressed, make up'ed and hairstyled  and manage their moves and acts. But now I know :) The process was very fascinating, even in the late evening, when everybody was exhausted. Tired, but excited! I really enjoyed these two days being an actress. Not sure I will find my face in final film, but anyway it was great. I loved the whole atmosphere, all those magic manipulations made by make up artists and costume designers. Everybody was looking posh and elegant, even actors who were playing Soviet party official :)  So let's have a look at us, stylized as late 20's ladies and gentlemen (gentleman? :-) )!

Sunny vintage style photoshoot

Last year in September I had an absolutely marvelous photoshoot with animals.
I wanted to create look between 40's and 50's. Now I see it's more 40's, but I love it anyway.

I think it's time to share with you these photos to make days more bright and sunny.

It was big luck for us to meet a lady with lovely dog. Doggy liked me very much, as you can see :) And I liked it too!

We went to small nice park and were surprised to see polecates meeting! Well, there were few people with these funny creatures. One kind man gave me one to hold  and to take a photo. So I'm holding a polecat lady, which was hyperactive, trying to smell my neck all the time. Ain't she sweet? :)

I'm already missing that great sunny days, but looking back to warm times helps a bit.

Fur collars: original or faux?

As a big vintage lover and real woman I LOVE fur. I'm not sure it's time to buy a fur coat - it's incredibly expensive and heavy and needs proper shoes and maybe car :) Hard to imagine a lady in a fur coat early in the morning in the tube. So right now I can't afford myself this precious stuff. But I can afford fur collars! Real, faux - it doesn't really matters, since it's beautiful by itself. In my Tweed run post you saw my handmade fox fur collar. Today I decided to look for some lovely vintage collars, and that's what I found.

Last warm days

Fall! Fall! Fall!

Last warm and sunny days. On this photo I'm flying as ballerina dancer :) 100 km from Kyiv, in a small city called Yahotyn, where is located great milk factory. Yummy-yummy :)
Tomorrow is my birthday, so I'm preparing to look and feel gorgeous :)

Second Tweed run in Kyiv

The very first Tweed run in Kyiv took part in April 2012. Аbout 150 properly dressed up participants were cruising on Kyiv streets. You can see how it was here.
On 20th October we had second Tweed run in Kiev. Even more people (about 300) took part in this autumn retro cruise, which was organized by Pride Kustoms, as a first time.
I tried my best to prepare really fancy and classy look. And my boyfriend either.
So... enjoy!

Collar is my pride! It took me few days to make it from a real fox fur Tim brought to me.

It was challenge. But I passed it successfully ;) And my hat is also handmade. I took an old men's hat and made a lovely small one for me. That's how it was:

Vintage swimsuit - victory!

In the very beginning of September I took part in ladies bicycle competition. 30 ladies in swimming suits were trying their best to get the valuable prices (3 charming custom bicycles).

Well, I was not lucky enough to show the best result. This event was not about sport for me. I won the best swimming suit competition!

This is a great vintage swimming/bathing suit I bought this summer. I've added two red buttons and few bows - and it looks even more authentic than before! And the prize is Milavitsa gift certificate - one of the best underwear company. I'm gonna make myself a birthday present and buy something extra beautiful.
Happy! :) I LOVE victory moments, they give me so much inspiration!

Hi there! Fall is all around

Hello everybody,

It's been a long time since I appeared here last time. Now I'm happy to be online again! I have a lot of news, ideas, photos and stuff to share.

First of all - it's fall! And we started our September in forrest hunting for mushrooms.

And finally we had almost full basket!

Sweet sailor kiss

Everybody knows this famous photo by Alfred Eisenstaedt, taken on a Victory day. I really like it and always dreamed about creating the same shoot. And finally we did it :) There is a kiss contest, so me and my boyfriend decided to participate and make similar kiss photo. Taken by uknown passerby on a very hot july day in Kyiv.

Another great find!

This marvellous vintage blue bath-suit is mine! I've bought it at our big second-hand flea market and happy to have it :) Looks pretty nice, isn't it? The condition is also good. It's hard to say if someone ever wore it or no. It fits my body shape perfectly, so hope to show you some lovely photos of me wearing this superfeminine swimming suit.

 I also wonder if I need to add some additional decoration. Maybe red or white buttons or a bow.
